A new era for Oceania Cruises begins with Oceania Sonata, the first ship in the line’s all-new Sonata Class. Scheduled to debut in August 2027, the 86,000-gross-ton vessel will welcome just 1,390 guests, creating an unusually generous sense of space for a ship with such an extensive collection of restaurants, lounges, suites, and enrichment venues. Residential-style interiors and a crew of approximately 855 are intended to preserve the personal atmosphere associated with Oceania while introducing a noticeably broader onboard experience.

Cuisine will provide the defining rhythm of life aboard Sonata. Established favorites such as Jacques, Red Ginger, Toscana, Polo Grill, and The Grand Dining Room will return alongside two entirely new concepts. Nikkei Kitchen will explore the meeting of Peruvian ingredients and Japanese culinary techniques, while the intimate La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France will present a reservations-only chef’s-table experience for only 18 guests each evening. Oceania has announced 13 culinary experiences at no additional charge, although La Table’s wine-pairing experience will carry a surcharge.

Beyond the dining rooms, Sonata’s public spaces are being designed with a more relaxed, residential character. The new Opus Lounge will serve as a gracious living room during the day before shifting into a sophisticated evening gathering place. Founders Bar, the Library, panoramic lounges, the spa, pool deck, and enrichment spaces will provide contrasting settings for cocktails, conversation, wellness, and quiet afternoons at sea.

Accommodations will play a larger role than on any previous Oceania ship, with approximately one-third of all rooms devoted to suites. The collection will include newly created Horizon Suites and Penthouse Deluxe Suites, along with reimagined Oceania, Vista, and Owner’s Suites featuring separate living and dining areas, expansive verandas, and residential-style bathrooms. Veranda and Concierge Level accommodations will provide additional options for guests who prefer a spacious private retreat without moving into the larger suite categories.

Sonata’s inaugural season will unfold across Europe and the Caribbean, beginning with port-rich European voyages before continuing toward warmer island itineraries. The ship’s first collection includes 22 sailings from August 2027 through April 2028, visiting more than 90 destinations on voyages ranging from seven to 16 days.

Oceania Sonata is not simply a larger version of the ships that came before her. She has been conceived as a more spacious expression of the brand’s culinary and destination-focused style, pairing inventive restaurants, an expanded suite collection, and elegant social spaces with the intimate service expected aboard an Oceania voyage.
