Silver Cloud

Silver Cloud pairs the intimacy of Silversea’s original luxury ships with the equipment and expertise required for true expedition cruising. Built in 1994 and transformed into an ice-class expedition vessel in 2017, she carries just 254 guests, creating a highly personal atmosphere with nearly one crew member for every traveler. Her smaller scale, generous suites, and understated public spaces make remote exploration feel adventurous without leaving comfort behind.

Exploration begins well beyond the ship’s decks. A fleet of 20 Zodiacs and 10 kayaks allows guests to reach isolated shores, narrow waterways, wildlife colonies, and landing sites inaccessible to conventional cruise ships. The Mud Room provides a practical place to prepare for excursions, while the Explorer Lounge hosts destination briefings, expert presentations, and recaps that add context to each day’s discoveries.

Returning onboard brings an immediate change of pace. Guests can warm up in the sauna or steam room, visit the fitness center, browse the library, or settle into a lounge with views of the surrounding landscape. Open decks remain an important part of the experience, particularly when whales, seabirds, glaciers, or rugged coastlines appear without warning.

Four restaurants provide considerably more variety than might be expected aboard a ship of this size. The Restaurant pairs familiar favorites with dishes influenced by the voyage, while La Terrazza transitions from relaxed daytime dining to Italian cuisine in the evening. La Dame offers an intimate French fine-dining experience, and The Grill serves salads, seafood, and grilled specialties beside the pool. Open-seating dining and 24-hour in-suite service allow meals to follow the changing schedule of expedition days.

Every accommodation is a suite with ocean views and dedicated butler service. Approximately 80% include a private veranda, giving many guests a personal viewing point for wildlife and scenery. Categories range from Vista and Veranda Suites to Medallion, Silver, Royal, Grand, and Owner’s Suites, with the larger accommodations offering separate living areas and expansive outdoor space.

Silver Cloud is particularly well suited to journeys through Antarctica and the Polar Regions, where her expedition equipment, experienced team, and ice-strengthened capabilities bring guests closer to some of the planet’s most remote environments. One day may involve kayaking beside sculpted ice, while another brings a Zodiac landing among penguin colonies before an evening of fine dining and quiet observation back onboard.
