Norwegian Spirit

A complete bow-to-stern transformation gave Norwegian Spirit a character unlike most ships in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. Although originally built in 1998, the ship’s redesigned interiors feel contemporary and polished, with much of the experience shaped around relaxation, scenic cruising, and adult-friendly spaces. Carrying approximately 1,972 guests at double occupancy, Spirit offers a quieter and more intimate setting than Norwegian’s larger resort-style ships.

The ship is at her best when the view becomes part of the day. Guests can settle into the panoramic Spinnaker Lounge, stretch out across the generous outdoor decks, or spend a warm afternoon at Spice H2O, an adults-only retreat with loungers, hot tubs, and open views of the surrounding sea. The enlarged Mandara Spa and Thermal Suite provide an entirely different kind of escape, with heated spaces and treatments designed for slower, restorative afternoons.

Dining aboard Norwegian Spirit feels surprisingly varied for a ship of this size. Onda by Scarpetta serves contemporary Italian cuisine and signature pasta dishes, while Cagney’s Steakhouse, Le Bistro, Teppanyaki, and Silk add steakhouse, French, Japanese, and Asian choices. Complimentary venues include the stylish Taste and Windows dining rooms, casual meals at Garden Café, outdoor favorites at The Great Outdoors, and pub fare around the clock at The Local.

As night falls, the two-level Stardust Theater becomes the center of the ship’s performance scene, with production shows and live entertainment presented in an elegant opera-style auditorium. Comedy and nightlife continue at Social Comedy and Night Club, while Magnum’s Champagne & Wine Bar and other intimate lounges offer a quieter place for an evening drink.

Staterooms were redesigned with a clean, modern look and include Solo, Inside, Oceanview, Balcony, and Suite accommodations. Larger penthouses and owner’s suites provide additional living space and private balconies, while the ship’s compact layout keeps every category within easy reach of restaurants, lounges, and outdoor decks. Norwegian Spirit does not feature The Haven, giving her suite experience a more traditional character.

Spirit’s smaller size and plentiful viewing areas are particularly well matched to journeys through Asia & Indian Ocean and Hawaii. One voyage may unfold among energetic cities, ancient temples, and island harbors across Asia, while another brings volcanic coastlines and tropical Pacific scenery into view from the ship’s open decks.

Norwegian Spirit feels less focused on headline attractions and more concerned with the pleasures of the voyage itself: a quiet morning in the Thermal Suite, lunch outside beside the ocean, a new port on the horizon, and an evening shared between dinner, theater, and drinks in a familiar lounge.
