Originally designed for the Chinese cruise market before later being adapted for North American itineraries, Norwegian Joy offers a slightly different onboard atmosphere compared to other Breakaway Plus-class vessels. Since entering service in 2017, the ship has become known for its expansive entertainment offerings, luxurious Haven complex, immersive recreation areas, and strong emphasis on premium contemporary cruising experiences.
Norwegian Joy features a large racetrack attraction, virtual reality entertainment, panoramic observation lounges, upscale specialty dining venues, and expansive outdoor social areas. Major refurbishment work completed in 2019 redesigned portions of the vessel specifically for Western cruise markets, introducing additional lounges, dining concepts, and public venues. Today, Norwegian Joy operates a wide variety of itineraries including Alaska, Caribbean, Panama Canal, and Mexican Riviera sailings while maintaining one of the fleet’s most versatile entertainment and recreation lineups.
