Celebrity Edge introduced a new direction for Celebrity Cruises when it entered service in 2018, replacing many traditional cruise-ship conventions with an outward-facing design built around ocean views and open, flexible spaces. As the first vessel in the Edge Series, the ship combines contemporary architecture, resort-style amenities, and technology-focused accommodations across a 129,500-gross-ton platform carrying approximately 2,918 guests at double occupancy. Rather than concentrating activity around one central atrium, Celebrity Edge spreads its signature venues throughout the ship, giving each area its own atmosphere and identity. Its most recognizable feature is the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform positioned along the starboard side of the ship. The venue moves between several decks and serves different purposes depending on its location, including an extension of the pool area, an open-air dining space, a lounge with live music, and a comfortable destination gateway when guests are boarding tender boats. At its highest point, the platform reaches approximately 13 stories above sea level and provides uninterrupted views across the water.
Celebrity Edge also introduced Infinite Veranda staterooms, which use a floor-to-ceiling window that lowers electronically to bring the veranda area into the room. Closing the interior folding doors creates a more traditional balcony-style space, while leaving them open extends the usable living area of the accommodation. Travelers seeking additional space can choose from Sky Suites, two-level Edge Villas with private plunge pools, and Iconic Suites positioned above the bridge. Guests staying in The Retreat receive access to exclusive areas and services, including a private restaurant, lounge, and outdoor sundeck.
Dining is organized around four complimentary main restaurants rather than one large dining room. Cosmopolitan serves globally inspired dishes, Cyprus highlights Mediterranean flavors, Normandie draws from French cuisine, and Tuscan presents Italian favorites. Specialty options include Fine Cut Steakhouse, Raw on 5, Le Grand Bistro, Rooftop Garden Grill, and Dinner on the Edge when available on the Magic Carpet. Eden combines dining, cocktails, panoramic windows, and live entertainment within a dramatic three-story venue at the stern, while the Grand Plaza acts as a social centerpiece surrounded by bars, restaurants, and gathering areas. Outdoor areas have been designed to feel more like a modern resort than a conventional cruise deck. The asymmetrical main pool area is framed by elevated seating, sculptural artwork, and wide views of the sea, while the adults-only Solarium provides a quieter indoor pool environment. Higher on the ship, the Rooftop Garden offers greenery, shaded seating, live music, outdoor games, and casual dining. Wellness facilities include The Spa, a fitness center, and the SEA Thermal Suite, which features a collection of nature-inspired therapeutic spaces.
Entertainment takes place throughout the ship rather than being limited to scheduled theater performances. The Theatre uses advanced projection technology and a circular stage, The Club hosts late-night events and interactive programming, and Eden changes from a relaxed daytime retreat into an atmospheric evening venue. With its inventive architecture, broad dining selection, and emphasis on connecting guests with the surrounding scenery, Celebrity Edge is well suited to travelers who want a modern premium cruise experience that feels distinct from both traditional ships and larger family-focused resorts at sea.
