Celebrity Boundless is part of Celebrity Cruises’ move into European river cruising, bringing the brand’s contemporary design style to a vessel built for a much more intimate type of journey. Scheduled to sail in 2028, the ship will travel through Europe with only 172 guests, creating a quieter atmosphere than Celebrity’s ocean ships while still carrying over recognizable elements such as modern interiors, destination-facing lounges, flexible balcony accommodations, and a strong emphasis on dining. Rather than separating guests from the surrounding landscape, Boundless is being designed so that the river remains visible throughout the day. Expansive indoor-outdoor lounges, open-air terraces, top-deck spaces, and cantilevered dining pods extend toward the water, giving passengers different places to watch villages, vineyards, bridges, and historic cities pass alongside the ship. Hybrid-assisted propulsion is intended to make the experience smoother and quieter, particularly during scenic stretches of the Rhine and Danube.
The ship will accommodate its 172 passengers across 86 staterooms and suites. Every room is planned with a king-size bed that can be converted into two twins, along with a spa-style bathroom and destination-inspired details. Celebrity is also introducing Skylight Infinite Balcony Suites, which use overhead windows and an integrated balcony arrangement to bring additional light and scenery into the accommodation. Suite guests will receive butler service, while all rooms include conveniences such as filtered water, a stocked minibar upon arrival, daily housekeeping, turndown service, and complimentary continental breakfast delivered to the room.
Dining will be broader than the single-restaurant format found on many river vessels. Celebrity has announced six dining options, including regionally influenced menus, flexible all-day choices, a 24-hour option, and familiar Celebrity venues adapted for the river. Martini Bar, Café al Bacio, Sunset Bar, and a top-deck restaurant and lounge are among the concepts planned for the new fleet. The top deck will also include an infinity-edge pool, creating a more resort-like outdoor setting without overwhelming the ship’s intimate scale.
Celebrity Boundless is expected to sail both the Rhine and Danube, placing guests close to destinations such as Amsterdam, Cologne, Strasbourg, Vienna, Budapest, and the Wachau Valley, depending on the itinerary. One shore excursion per day, meals, select alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, Wi-Fi, and onboard entertainment are planned as part of the river cruise fare. The ship’s defining idea is not to reproduce an ocean cruise on a smaller vessel, but to combine Celebrity’s polished hospitality with the slower pace, direct destination access, and continuously changing scenery of European river travel.
