Celebrity Apex is built around the idea that a large cruise ship can feel contemporary and energetic without becoming overwhelming. Delivered in 2020 as the second vessel in Celebrity Cruises’ Edge Series, the ship replaces traditional maritime styling with dramatic architecture, open social spaces, destination-facing lounges, and accommodations designed to bring more natural light into the room. Its atmosphere falls between a modern resort and an upscale city hotel, appealing to travelers who want a sophisticated experience without the formality associated with traditional luxury cruising.
At 130,818 gross tons and 1,004 feet long, Celebrity Apex carries 2,910 guests at double occupancy. Those dimensions provide room for a wide selection of restaurants, entertainment venues, outdoor areas, and accommodation categories, yet the ship is divided into distinct neighborhoods rather than one continuous stretch of crowded public space. The three-level Grand Plaza acts as the social center, while the Rooftop Garden provides an open-air setting for movies, dining, music, and ocean views. The adults-only Solarium offers a quieter alternative to the main pool deck. One of the ship’s defining features is the Magic Carpet, an orange cantilevered platform that moves vertically along the starboard side. Its purpose changes depending on its position, functioning as a tender-boarding area, bar, dining space, or elevated viewing venue. Eden creates a different experience at the aft of the ship, combining panoramic windows, dining, cocktails, live performances, and lounge seating across three levels. Together, these spaces make Celebrity Apex recognizable in a way that extends beyond its size or passenger capacity.
Accommodation design also distinguishes Apex from Celebrity’s older ships. Many Edge Staterooms feature Infinite Verandas, where a retractable window transforms part of the cabin into a balcony-style space rather than separating the room from a conventional exterior veranda. Suite guests staying in The Retreat receive access to dedicated areas that include a private restaurant, lounge, and sundeck, creating a more secluded experience within the larger ship. Celebrity currently promotes 29 distinct restaurants, bars, and lounges across the vessel, giving dining and nightlife a central role in the onboard experience.
Celebrity Apex can adapt to very different itineraries because the ship itself offers enough variety for sea days while maintaining a strong visual connection to the destinations. A sailing may be centered on Caribbean beaches, Mediterranean ports, Northern European cities, or scenic coastal routes, but the onboard identity remains consistent: modern design, destination-facing spaces, diverse dining, and entertainment that feels integrated into the architecture rather than confined to a single theater. The ship is especially suited to travelers who appreciate upscale surroundings and creative design but still want the range of activities, restaurants, and accommodation choices available on a larger vessel.
